There is no competition or judgements in yoga, always go at your own pace don’t worry about what others are doing. Respect and listen to your body. Deep sensation and stretching is good but we do not need to push ourselves into pain. Be patient and kind to your body and mind. Yoga is a practice that is developed over time. Don’t worry if something doesn't come easily at first, give it time.
It is advisable to practice on an empty stomach, so aim to avoid eating 2 hours before your class.
What will we do in this class? This class is suitable for complete beginners and offers a chance to learn yoga postures and practices in a supportive and friendly environment. We start with a brief centring practice which helps us to tune in with our body and mind in preparation for the practice. We then work through a series of postures, with variations and modifications always available depending on individual needs. Following this we have a guided relaxation, a chance to completely unwind and absorb all the goodness from your physical practice.
What to bring… Bring your own mat if you have one, if not I have plenty of spares available. I also have blocks for you to use. You may wish to bring some water or a drink. It is also advisable to bring a blanket or jumper/warm layers for relaxation (especially in the winter months).
What should I wear? Comfortable clothing that you can move around in. Bare feet are advised during class to prevent slipping.
Do I need to be flexible or strong? There is absolutely no requirement to be flexible or strong to be able to do yoga. This is something you can build over time if you wish to. Yoga is for every body.
